Agriculture remains one of the most important sectors in the Kenyan economy. In 2006, the sector directly contributed 23.6% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). A further 27% of GDP is realised through linkages with manufacturing, distribution and other service related sectors. Moreover, it is estimated that 45% of Government revenue is derived from agriculture.
