The IEA held a local community awareness campaign in Gede, Malindi and were hosted by the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI), Gede Region Research Centre. The research centre is located at the Gede Forest Station, Aruboko Sokoke Forest,Malindi District of Coast Province. KEFRI was set up in 1986 under the Science and Technology Act (Chapter 250) to carry out research in forestry and allied natural resources.
