Produced by independent experts not beholden to national governments, the Open Budget Survey 2012 found that Kenya’s budget transparency score; at 49 out of 100 points in 2012 did not change from the previous score in 2010. However the report shows that despite this score remaining constant, the amount of information in the eight key budget documents increased slightly, implying that Kenyan citizens have increased access to the information they need to participate in decision making and hold the government accountable for how it manages the public’s money
