The auditor general gave qualified opinions on the financial expenditure of the county executive of Busia for all the financial years under review except for 2018/19 where the auditor gave an adverse opinion. Analysis of Busia County First Quarter and Second Quarter of 2021/22 Budget Implementation Report

Busia county’s approved budget for financial year 2021/22 was revised upwards by Ksh.1.8 billion through supplementary budget 1 for financial year 2021/22 in the second quarter from Kshs.8.43 billion to Kshs.10.23 billion. The total budget comprises development expenditure at Ksh. 4.55 billion and recurrent expenditure at Ksh. 5.68 billion.

Policy Brief of the Key Audit Findings of the National Government Accounts, 2019/20

The analysis shows in 2019/20, there has been an overall improvement in the way the financial statements were prepared which is attributed to use of IFMIS, guidance by The National Treasury through circulars and issuance of reporting templates to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) by the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (PSASB). The presentation of the financial statements is however, still below expectations when viewed holistically.
